Mrs Smee - SilS50

Today and tomorrow the local theatre is having an open weekend.  This morning they also launched their Christmas(!) pantomime at the local shopping centre.  This year the story is 'Peter Pan' and of course I thought of the pantomime dame for SillySaturday (thank you, Admirer).

This is Mrs Smee, mother of one of the pirates, and very grande dame she was.  For those of you who don't live here and know about our weird traditions, a pantomime is a Christmas play based on a traditional story (Peter Pan, Cinderella, Jack & the Beanstalk, etc) in which plain middle-aged men dress up as plain middle-aged women and pretty young women dress up as pretty young men.

You're right, it's true we are a very odd race.

So do I have any reservations about PMA men taking off PMA women as though the women are more to be laughed at than the men?  Yes, of course I do.  But whatever angle you look at it from, this certainly fulfills the criteria for a Silly Saturday.  So there we are!

Happy Saturday evening.  Hope you're doing something nice  xx
