Gently down the stream

Butterflies get old too - WildWed77

I liked this shot because of - not in spite of - the fact that the butterfly looks a little old and weary, as indeed does the buddleia flower.  Very end of season.  We all have to have permission to get old in whatever way we fancy, or are able to, even these most glamorous members of the insect world.

I actually saw 4 red admirals down by the river, a couple of commas and plenty of browns.  I'm sure they'll be much around over the next week if the weather really is going to get warmer again.  It's a lovely thought.

I think the 6 houses in my terrace are a bit jinxed this year.  After the shenanigans with the Gas people cutting 4 houses' phone lines, last night water began flooding through the ceiling from the upstairs bathroom.  Luckily a lovely plumber came and fixed it.  Then at 11pm or so we heard hammering and drilling.  This morning my neighbour 2 doors up rang to apologise - her electrics died completely: no heating, light, phone, nothing!  So the noise was the emergency electricians jury rigging something till this morning.

The world collapses!

Many thanks to Cailleach for hosting.  And enjoy your Wednesday evening, all  xx
