November 11th Remembrance Day

Today we woke to rain and grey skies, weather suited to this day when we remember all those in the armed forces who have died in conflict and very importantly  those who have been injured both physically and mentally.  I was fortunate enough to have the chance to photograph a real, droplet laden poppy  today as there is a council flower bed at the top of the road where the poppies continue to flourish although the other wild flowers have done their dash.  I could not resist the extra, as a bee  ( who clearly doesn't realise  that it's mid November) decided to land and look for pollen.
Last night Violet slept over, after her usual Friday with me, and Mr MC and I took her to her new ballet class where the dance school principal is the very same who taught Violet's mummy many years ago.
After Violet had left us, Zeus09smum invited me out for a walk with her and Zeus.  We took our poppy pictures en route and then enjoyed a lovely walk in the forest around the Chingford plain area.  The rain had cleaned and brightened the foliage so the forest really was golden, despite the lack of sunshine.
