Weather, What Weather?

The good thing about walking abroad early in the morning before sunrise on yet another miserable morning is that the weather is hidden by the darkness. The street lights and car headlights pierce the gloom with their warm colour and the mist and drizzle go unnoticed until the sky lightens and the cheerlessness of another soggy day is revealed.

So it was this morning, when it became semi light about 8am as I turned for home. There is still another month before the shortest day when it only gets light at 8:40.

Surprisingly, some of the trees in the Meadows still have leaves, particularly the cherry trees which stand out a beautiful russet colour against the black rain soaked buildings in the distance. These trees provide such a wonderful display of pink frothy blossom in the spring, and end the year with a lovely display of colourful autumn leaves.*extra image
