The last rugby match

We thoroughly enjoyed the school production last night of the musical Chess. In fact it was so good I thought we were at a West End show in London. The girls were superb, particularly the female lead who was outstanding - in fact when she sang that duet made famous by Elaine Page 'I know him so well' I got tears in my eyes. The girls come from all the local schools in the area as Thomas is at an all boys school, and they really attract the best talent. It was such a brilliant production!

Today was the last rugby match of the season - we love watching rugby every Saturday afternoon and felt quite sad that the season has already drawn to a close. In fact we only have one more year of watching Saturday rugby matches after doing this for the last umpteen years for all our boys! It has been a very good season for Thomas, he started off in the 4th team and ended up in the 2nd team which is not bad. Today's match was tough - their opposition, Eton, were very strong and I think they were the better team - it was a hard fought match but thank goodness we won by 15-12! 'We' said very loosely, of course I mean Thomas' team. The parents got so excited, it was a fantastic match with which to end the season. You can see Thomas at the back of the pack here in his yellow boots.

Thomas had to go back to school for the final night's performance of Chess and we Gavin will collect him at 10pm when it finishes. He has a busy day tomorrow, up early to get to UCL in London by 9.30am for a full day engineering workshop for 15-18 year olds. He will be exhausted but I know he will love the day there.

Now a lazy night in front of the TV, what bliss.....
