Life in Sunny Dubai

London Illuminations

A very relaxed start to the day... we had breakfast and then just pottered around. I helped D&E complete some of the setup of their new SMART TV; mainly the Screen mirroring function.

We had thought of driving up to London to see the lights today before heading back to the Lodge, and as D&E also wanted to go up to London, we all drove in together with D giving us a tour of South East London and the areas he grew up in. It was fascinating, especially for me as we drove through Camberwell - TWICE! Camberwell is important to me because of this tune which I absolutely love.

The drizzle though got worse just when we got out of the car and started walking. First stop was Somerset House to see the ice-rink and to have hot chocolate in Fortnum & Masons Lodge. That was awesome. As it was now raining, D&E went back to the car and came back to pick us up. My extra is from the spot we were waiting at. I like the reflections on the road.

D then drove us to Trafalgar Square, Regent Street and whilst trying to get back to a bridge to cross the Thames, with all the traffic and roadworks, we managed to get a glimpse of the start of the lights on Oxford Street. A clear view too with us stopped at the lights and no-one in the junction!

C was thrilled with her ride up to and drive around London. Think we were all tired and in bed by midnight! And it rained steadily all evening which is a shame because the brief spells of sunshine in the morning were fab, but you couldn't see the lights in the morning.
