The lollipop man

(Do you have such people in the USA I wonder? If not you will be very confused!)

Mum had an appointment at Sunderland Eye Infirmary today to try to sort out her new spectacles. They are still not right and there has been some confusion about the strength of the prisms between the hospital and the optician.

We love Sunderland Eye Infirmary. You can just see the old building in my blip. The hospital is a stand-alone eye hospital and, as such, is an anachronism. However, the care is first-rate and the place is run efficiently and with good humour.

When we arrived there was only one parking space and I had to squeeze into it because another driver had left his car on the white line next to my space. The spaces are very narrow and everyone has to be an expert parker here!

Sitting on a bench was the subject of my blip. He was clad from head to foot in high vis clothing. He discussed the parking situation with me and with great knowledge. I think he must sit there regularly and see what goes on, chatting to patients as and when. Then he goes to the nearby school to supervise the children as they cross the road (holding his lollipop in his hand).

Mum was treated with great care. We are not sure if there is a solution to her spectacle problems which is very frustrating but we know that the orthoptist is doing her best.

The catkins were very lively this morning. There was a lot of chasing around the room plus gazing out of the windows. I think they will love climbing trees when they reach the stage we can let them outside. For now, it's one room for them.
