All we like sheep

There were 45 people on the walk this afternoon, so it was a bit like this, except that no dogs were involved to keep us in line. It was a lovely scenic walk through forest and garrigue, with potentially wonderful panoramic views to the Pyrenees from the top of the Cirque de Viviès, except that sadly it was rapidly clouding over by then. In fact it started raining on the way back down, but luckily we were less than a kilometre from the cars, and I had an opportunity to test my new anorak.

As we passed through the Château de Caraguilhes, the shepherd was just taking the sheep up the lane, possibly to a barn. Someone commented that he surely didn't need the three patous (guard dogs) since wolves and bears are rarely seen around here. But perhaps they're to stop people nicking the sheep. The vineyards are organic, so the sheep are probably doing the weeding.
