Medieval Mechanics

It's Wide Wednesday challenge on the theme of 'mechanical' and I did think of doing a sunrise over Newport's Transporter Bridge as that's very meccano like and mechanical but the early morning rain put paid to that idea!

The sun did come out late morning I headed to Caerphilly Castle as they have some medieval 'siege machines' and the medieval crossbow or Ballista shown in the blipfoto.  A brief history is here

My mum got admitted back into hospital with her gallstone issue so hopefully they'll keep her in and do the necessary operation. This afternoon we visited her. The staff are marvellous but the lack of beds is an issue. The surgeon who came when we were there reminded me of Officer Frank "Ponch" Poncherello of CHiPs - the programme in the 70's that inspired me to have a go at it.
