Calgary

Saw the Tour de Yorkshire on the TV this morning. Lovely weather hope it stays that way for them. We awoke to grey skies and dreich drizzle!

Never mind it soon dried up but we decided to tour the West of the Island instead of our planned walk.

Coffee at Dervaig and then on to Calgary Bay. Yes Calgary.
Famed for the best beach on the island and the origin of that somewhat larger Calgary in Alberta, Canada.

The residents here were made to leave during the Highland clearances and were forcibly shipped to Canada.

A lovely beach for a walk and a short stroll along the margins ever in hope of spotting an Otter. There were information boards about seeing them and others were obviously looking but as Dave says ( the owner of the house we will go to on Saturday) you never see an Otter when you are looking and we didn't!
We did see Hen Harriers, Red Deer and Sea Eagles over the Sea Loch between Mull and Ulva.
I did like this little shop by the beach. It wasn't open but then who wants ice cream and cold drinks on a grey day?

Stopped at Craignure for tea and cake before returning to Tobermory in time to check out dinner possibilities and a rather nice book shop I'd spotted last night.
