Marjorie's ramblings

The last day of the Festival

Wall to wall sunshine! It was hot and humid on the circular walk from Banks Turret (on Hadrian's Wall ). We did a delightful route that included two bluebell woods. Not only that, the bluebells are in flower!

There were also wood anemones, wood sorrel, primroses, water avens, stitchwort, horse tails, red campion, enchanter's nightshade and more.

Well done to Cath for leading her first ever festival walk. One walker could not keep up so had to be picked up by our car cover in the form of Carol. That all worked well.

After the walk, some of us went back to Haltwhistle to meet the long walkers from today. It was a noisy, happy gathering as we said our fond farewells to people who will return in the autumn. They become good friends of ours.

Apart from the odd glitch, the festival has been brilliant.

Aggie is very swollen and a bit sore, but I'm hoping that ice and elevation will sort her out. I walked 8 out of 10 days, so I'm very happy with that.
