Dr Doolittle

Do you remember a couple of years ago when they came and filmed in Kirkby Lonsdale for 'Jamaica Inn'? Well, 'they' are back, and this time it's to film a scene for 'The Voyage Of Dr Doolittle'.

The film stars Robert Downey Jr as the eponymous doctor and thus the town has been awash with rumours of sightings. A friend of mine, Angela, told me this morning that an "Avengers-style" black helicopter had been spotted and who else would be in that other than RDJ? (Actually, I suspect she was simply revelling in the absurdity of the whole business.)

As with 'Jamaica Inn', the market square has been refashioned, and grace of the splendid weather, the townsfolk have been gathering to spectate what is actually quite a slow and dull business. But, in the sunshine, who cares?!

I met Dan and Abi here, this evening, so we could go for a curry but we had a quick peep at the filming first. No sign of RDJ.
