Hay bales

Not many farmers around here seem to leave their hay bales unprotected anymore. As fast as the baling machine was producing these hay bales, the ugly black plastic was going on to protect them. This scene would be so much better with natural grassy hay bales, but I suppose one advantage of the plastic is you get little sunbursts reflecting off that plastic!

This morning I went to the hairdresser - I never go on a weekend but my hairdresser is going on holiday so I had to go see her today. While I was there I was reading an article in a magazine about happiness and contentment - what is it and do people ever really understand it? In conclusion the article said it's about being present in the moment and being happy with the small things in life.

Today I had many happy moments
 - sipping an excellent cappucino with my husband at our favourite cafe on a Saturday morning
- driving on a sunny summer's day with the wind in my hair listening to Coldplay on the car stereo
- feeling the warm weight of Murdoch as he snuggles up to my leg when I was sitting down eating breakfast
- the pleasure of having Adam, Jenny and Laurence at home for a few days.

Gavin took the dressing off his eye this morning - it is quite swollen and bruised but it is not too painful, more irritable than anything else. I am sure in a few days it will be looking more normal.

Apologies for my ignorance, I have now been told these are silage bales and not hay bales- I never seem to see hay around here anymore
