Patiently waiting

A slow start to the day, before I got away by train to Oxford. We decided that S should spend the day with her cousin, and rest her knee which was badly wrenched getting into and out of a shuttle bus on arrival in Reykjavik. Very sensible decision as there was a lot of walking around central Oxford.

My guide was Arachne, whom I met for the first time this morning. I left where we went, and what we looked at, to her. It was an interesting walk, and an even more interesting conversation over many topics.

The main photo shows Oxford punts available for use. Arachne told me that, in keeping with the constant competition between Oxford and Cambridge, they are different from the opposition’s. By the time we passed this way again on the way to the railway station, there were only a few punts still there.

The first extra is a heron beside the river Thames, and the second shows Arachne at the end of a narrow alley.

A wonderful day with a lovely guide .

A restful day tomorrow and a late flight on Thursday to Hong Kong on the way home.to Auckland.
