Forth bridges

Today's the day ........................... to go to Aberdeen

A trip north by train to the fine city of Aberdeen.

This is where Will was a university student many years ago - and the purpose of our visit was to attend a Celebration of the Life of Professor Charles Gimingham, one of his lecturers.  Professor Gimingham was an eminent botanist and judging from the many people gathered in St Machar's Cathedral in Old Aberdeen - had been a much loved and highly respected man.

It was good to catch up with former student friends and colleagues of Will - and of course he enjoyed being back in some of his student haunts.  We had a drink in the Machar Bar for old times' sake!

And then we headed back south on the train just in time to catch a bit of a sunset behind the two road bridges as we went over the Forth Railway Bridge.  Just the way to end a memorable day ...........................
