Flower Studies

Dear Diary,

Over the next few days I plan to post some flower studies using my new camera.  We are a little past peak now and I want to record each different one. I'm also experimenting with processing the image.  This, of course, is one of my many daylilies. I love the color next to the barn red of the studio.

Photographing, for me, is also another way to continue learning, or, in this case, re-learning.  I just had to find out what that thing was sticking out of the center behind the stamens.  It is the pistil, the female reproductive part of the flower.  I am sure I learned that in biology way back when but like so many things, I'd forgotten the term.  So, here it is...petals, stamens, stem, bud, leaves and pistil!
