The accidental finding

I think this was taken in between Mary Coughlsn and Richard Thompson's sets on the main stage. Both were excellent.

Unfortunately J dragged us off to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers on the other stage, so we did not see all of Richard's set. The chilli pipers, who pioneered 'bagrock' put on a great spectacle, but I couldn't really see it because we were in the mosh pit, and there was a dip in the ground! They are fun, though, I'll try to see them again. After exiting the tent and walking the labyrinth (see 3 August's entry) for the last time, we decided to stay outside the tent for the Undertones' gig, because the view was better. We could have done with some opera glasses, but the band was excellent, as lively as I remember them being in 1978. Feargal Sharkey is no longer with them but the distinctive vocal sound remains. There was room to dance, too!

When the band finished, we had to find a coffee stall still open, for the driver, and commence the journey home through the soft Wiltshire midnight.
