Today, the reason we have travelled south this weekend, a celebration of J’s Aunty Vera’s 90th Birthday.

Twelve of us for dinner at the Lord Bute, age range 2 years to 90 years. It is the first time Aunty V has been outside her flat for 3 years, excepting a couple of hospital visits, so quite a big deal. It all went fine. I have taken lots of people shots today.

Afterwards, everyone went their separate ways. We stayed chatting to Aunty V at home, then went to J’s Mum’s flat (now on the market), and then onto Mudeford for some fresh air. Across on the ferry for a walk up to the top of Hengitsbury Head and back.

Returning late evening, we stopped at The Beach House for something light to eat and drink. It was built as Westover Hall in 1897 for Alexander Siemens. His family’s summer residence until 1928. It’s a beautiful arts and crafts building, at the time supposedly the most luxurious residence on the south coast. There is fascinating detail everywhere. I love this metalwork on the doors.
