Loch Earn

After this quite exhausting week we did not set the alarm for the morning.
Nonetheless I woke up and got up before 9 am heading for a loooong shower then finished my Friday blip.
Next step was packing for Aviemore. I was not very fast I have to admit, but we were on the road by 12 pm.
We drove via the Campsie hills towards Callander, the mandatory stop in that direction.
I like Callander, not only because of the clearance shoe shop, which we of course visited.
I did not see anything apart from a pair of Fly shoes, which were very cool. I was happy with that, while Neil found a pair of very nice Think shoes and took his time contemplating, if he should buy them.
Then he and the sales woman starting finding more shoes for me. Since I am a sucker for Think! and Paul Green shoes, I got more options than I wanted …… In the end I walked out with a bargain, but not only one pair of shoes.
At least Neil bought the Think! For himself too!
Next we browsed the outdoor shops, as Neil needed a waterproof jacket. We found a very nice one, not even expensive! It was a fast buy for my Neil, who usually overthinks everything.
Time for a coffee at the new Coffee Shop and a Brownie for me.
We also bought a couple of glass keep cups, which were less expensive there than in Glasgow or online. We got free brownies and free coffee with them, which made them even a bargain.
It was already quite late when we left, but we still took the scenic Route along Loch Earn and through Crieff before we hit the A9.
We arrived in the Rowan Tree Hotel just before 7:30 pm, when our dinner was booked. We just had time to change and relaxed in the lounge with red wine while waiting for our table.

Last year I won a 2 night stay here as the price of the category I won at the Scottish Nature Photography awards. We loved it so much there that I booked again this year.
Apart from it being a nice country hotel, it has incredible good food and a very eccentric woman working there. A total character. It was nice to be back.
We had expectedly too much food and fell into bed way before midnight.

Tomorrow we are planning a couple of walks. Hopefully the weather will be fine.
