Life's Little Moments

In Summation....

It has been another wet, chilly day and basically no-one is happy.  The poor birds are soaked and disgruntled.  The squirrels and chippies haven't fared any better.  The insects are all mostly in hiding.  But the hummingbirds are in full migration mode and trying to guard every nectar source on our property.  They love the rain and aren't bothered by chilly temps.  I managed to catch of of them as she backed up against a clean backrgound, engaged in a hummie slap-down with a rival.  See Extra.

Today's photo is a male American Goldfinch, soaking wet and starting his fall molt.  All in all, not his best look.

Was hoping the futon for my work space would be delivered today, but just got notice that it is now scheduled for tomorrow.  It is one of those "some assembly required" things, so I expect there will be some cursing when it finally arrives.  It comes in 4 boxes weighing a cumulative total of 190 pounds.  Lots of opportunities for creative language.

Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer and only intermittent rain.  Which is good because I have 3 monarchs that need to be released.  Can't put them out when it is this rainy, nor are they showing any signs yet of wanting to be on their way.  But by tomorrow they'll be wanting to eat, so it will be time.  Any releases tomorrow will go in memory of those who perished on 9/11/2001.

Happy Monday, people.
