View to the destination

The light first thing this morning was not necessarily such as to invite expeditions. But, hey ho, we are booked in, so off we had to go. The trip to Ford to join P and H for one night was extended as a result of the Rest and be Thankful closure, but the drive down from Tyndrum to Loch Awe and along Loch Awe side, although long, was rewarding. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to stop, as we'd promised P and H we'd be there for lunchtime. We made it, just, and headed off straight away for an excellent lunch at the Kilmartin Glen Cafe (where I forgot to pay, and so we had to go back later...) and thence for a walk along the Knapdale Beaver Trail around Loch Barnluasgan and up to the viewpoint over Crinan Ferry, the Crinan Canal, and out towards Mull. There was a splendid panorama covering what felt like half of Argyll (obviously an exaggeration given the scale of the county), but I've concentrated on the mountains of Mull, looking very inviting.

No sign of the beavers themselves, but plenty of evidence of their works (see extra). P has been quite involved in the whole process of reintroducing the beavers since 2009, so was able to keep me well informed about the various ways they have altered the physical environment around Loch Barnluasgan.

Home now for a late roast dinner.
