Marjorie's ramblings

North of the Wall

Today was Arth's last "proper" walk before the operation. I was out north of Sewingshields Farm with Phil, Lil and Dave, on a recce for the Spring 2019 Walking Festival.

We are going to take people across open access land to Crow Crags. There are prehistoric settlements there and signs of different field systems. Phil is our Archaeology expert and very popular with walkers.

We were not able to go until this afternoon, so we had an eye out for the time and the light. Looking west, the light was extraordinary as you see here, with the whin sill and Hadrian's Wall as part of the mono recession. That's Broomlee Lough just making it into the picture.

This is going to be an excellent festival walk and I'm sure it will sell out immediately. Phil has led walks for us before and took the opportunity to test us to see if we could remember features from previous walks!! Thankfully we did not disgrace ourselves with lack of answers.

My extra shows Lil and Phil standing on one of the exciting features of the walk. (You will have to come along to find out what it is, unless an archaeologist on Blipfoto knows!  It is a feature with two domes to it and it is downhill, near a water source.)
