Peoples History

I needed to read a draft document before a meeting this morning, so started off at the café at the Peoples History Museum, which is to the left in this shot.

A blank wall has been covered in a mural reflecting on the Peterloo massacre. The artist Axel Void has used a current mother and child to connect the issues of 1819 with the present.

On leaving the café I noticed a rather splendid drake goosander swimming by. They are fish eating ducks, so his presence indicates a good supply of small fish in the Irwell. For most of the last 200 years the River has been heavily polluted, so some good news.
