Photo walk around Langsett reservoir

A photography outing to Langsett reservoir this morning.  It was blowing a gale and was rather dark when the five of us we set off (only the women made it).  We spent a bit of time photographing round the quarry  before setting off to walk the reservoir circuit, with only a few photos taken on the way round.  There were lots of people about including a whole team of dressed up mountain bikers.  I missed taking an image of the main pack (I’d never make a press photographer) though fortunately these friendly late comers came along.  I wouldn’t want to ride a bike along this track, look at the surface, and the uphill stretch is just about to start.

Th other interesting thing we past on the way back were the decorated spruce trees.  Apparently people hang decorations in memory of loved ones and then the decorations are removed and packed away for another year before being replaced on the tree next Christmas.  (I have one remaining extra so I thought it had to be this image).

Having completed our windswept three and a half miles we headed for tea and cake in the Polka Dot cafe (decorated in the jersey pattern ready for when the Tour de France passed by - traditionally it has always been a bikers cafe).

We need to do it again soon.  Many thanks to Debbie who got us all moving.
