Lyme Regis

I started the day with a run – it was hot again. We decided that Lyme Regis would be our destination today, one of our favourite places along this coast.  Parking was in short supply, so after a bit of  false start we made it to the park and ride in a field outside town and got a bus  back into town.  We headed to the gardens that overlook the beach, and had our picnic, and then the boys went off to play crazy golf.  I read my book and had a wander in the sunshine.

We then all went for a wander through town, down the very steep high street and back along the front. It is fair to say that  Lyme Regis was packed full of holiday makers.  We walked along the Cobb and generally just pottered.  We weren’t sure when the park and ride field shut, but TT suggested that we walk back to it, rather than catching the bus.  I must admit I wasn’t too keen, as it was all uphill – steep uphill and it was very hot, however he persuaded us.  We took our time so it wasn’t too bad.  We followed footpath signs which took us through fields and woods and seemed to be going in the right direction.  The last field we had to cross was full of cows, and a bull.  We walked briskly and I was so glad to get to the other side!

Our car was one of the last in the field, but we got out ok and came back with a brief stopover in Eype.  However it was blowing a gale there, so we didn’t hang about for long.

Another harbour, another boat!
