THE BEAUTY OF NATURE

The snow is still very deep and the roads on our estate are like glass, so as it was quite difficult getting out onto the main road, we decided that it would be best if we didn’t go out searching for dereliction today because although the main roads are quite clear, we knew that the side roads would still be treacherous.

With that in mind, early this morning, when I first got up, I took several photographs of the ice on the outside of our conservatory windows and marvelled at the intricacy of the beautiful patterns and enjoyed again the sight of the pristine snow in our garden.  With the sun shining on the snow it was a truly beautiful scene.

It was quite a challenge getting to church this morning, but in fact, the worst part was walking across the car park, but 22 others made it too, so we had a good service, which I led, and at which Susan preached, followed by communion.  Then we had plenty of time for coffee and chatting with friends afterwards and Lillieth had even brought chocolate to go with the coffee so we were doubly blessed!

“There is something infinitely healing
in the repeated refrains of nature –
the assurance that dawn comes after night,
               and spring after winter.”
Rachel Carson
