Diary of an Edinburgher

Plastered

Our builder arrived early and worked non stop till mid afternoon. He got the ceiling plastered and most of the walls. Still parts to box in, but that's the council's fault - they’re supposed to come and check it before it's closed up. Andrew has been asking them for days. No answer. Pathetic. It's great that checks are made to stop cowboy builders, but they have to actually do them when invited.

However, our chap reckons three more days should finish the job. Won’t hold my breath...

The painter promised to come and make sure the windows weren’t painted shut. Well, he didn’t come and they are...

JR and Archie went for a big long walk while I waited in for the painter. This seems to happen a lot, but I’m happier sitting doing nothing than out walking and getting breathless. There was nothing alarming in the x-rays or blood tests. I'm being sent for an 'exercise ECG'.

Wonder which will happen first - the ECG or the kitchen being finished...
