Harbour view

We had a quick lunch just down by the harbour at Helgi's, named after a legendary Viking. The window decor framed the view rather nicely.

The weather has been a bit less amenable than forecast so the plan to prune the willows further wasn't feasible, unfortunately. Instead we did a food shop and a few necessary bits in Kirkwall before heading home and a little light housework.

I've been reading 'The Yorkshire Sheperdess' by Amanda Owen; really interesting and a true no-nonsense, practical attitude to life that's very refreshing. I think she initially came to fame due to the handle of being a very attractive woman, with legs up to her armpits, doing a very demanding job alongside her husband on a remote farm with their numerous kids - the stuff of TV heaven. Having read her account I'm full of admiration for them, making the most of their opportunities and living a life of real hard graft. It's easy to over-romanticise such a life in a few easy watching episodes on TV.
