Life in Sunny Dubai

Street Art

I had a dentist appointment today in this area. It is an old and vibrant part of Dubai and in recent years, we've seen the Municipality sprucing it up with graffiti art as shown in my blip. It definitely adds to the atmosphere especially when it is as iconic as this image of Sheikh Rashid (founder of modern Dubai) with his third son Sheikh Mohammed (present ruler).

The building is on a busy roundabout on 2nd December Street, a name I have to make a real effort to remember as it was known as Al Diyafah Road for the longest time. Diyafah is the Arabic word for guest, and the road was called that because it connected the Palace to the Guesthouse.

All went well at the dentist. I got home and was able to have a long chat with SweetArt, mainly about the upcoming trip to Hong Kong. G's Tuesdays aren't the short days they used to be now that she had a new student. And much of the evening was spent watching the news from Westminster. And now, I must look at G's pictures of the seaplane ride.
