Sleepover

Nathaniel on the left, aged 5 and his cousin James, 4, came to stay without parents or siblings. Our neighbour who has Zwartble sheep, asked them to come to see the two lambs she was looking after in her shed. Their mothers rejected them. They are 2 days old. The boys were allowed to pick them up. They were thrilled. Their great-grandfather was a shepherd as was their great-great grandfather and probably generations before him.

After that they ran about shouting and chasing in the garden, as small boys seem to like doing. They came in filthy so it was straight into the bath.

James wasn’t happy because we put them in separate rooms. “That’s not a sleepover,”. But he seemed to accept it when I said if they were good this time in their own rooms, next time we’d see. I want them to get to sleep at a reasonable time as we have an early start for the puffin Island tomorrow.
