A view from Jeanneb

Leaving.

This is the 7.55am ferry, Hallaig, leaving Raasay this morning taken from outside out hotel. We were waiting for breakfast to start at 8.00am so that we had plenty of time to catch the next ferry at 8.55am.

We were the only ones in breakfast (it was full yesterday with people rushing for the equivalent departure) and we were front of the queue for boarding. I would recommend Raasay even if you only go across for the day to walk. Great views and less of the frenzy of Skye. Across the inner sound you can clear see the Cuillin mountains.
A lovely way to finish our amazing holiday. It was sunshine all the way home and with just a couple of stops it took us 10 hours.
We made a very quick stop at Eileen Donan Castle, full circle from two weeks ago, as the reflections in Loch Duich were so good.

We do seem to have been a way a very long time and it is probably a while since we’ve had a full fortnight. We have had a fantastic time and have seen all seasons but we have predominantly experienced sunshine, whatever the temperature, with only one afternoon of steady rain. Pretty good going for the Highlands and Islands.
Not much time to get too gloomy about being back as after couple of days turn around and then I’m off to see my granddaughter in Bristol. Already something to look forward to!
