Unfurling iris

Saturday
We had an afternoon hike at Rowe Woods, where I got this picture of the yellow iris at the edge of one of the ponds. Our evening turned out to be somewhat disappointing. We had tickets to a performance by the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra at Covington Basilica, a program entitled Viva Vivaldi. The first half, Vivaldi's Gloria, was scheduled to be inside, while the second half, Vivaldi's Four Seasons was scheduled to be outside, accompanied by a projection on the side of the cathedral of photographs of northern Kentucky through the seasons, with seating set up in their car park. The first problem was the weather was not cooperating. It had been a cool day, and rain was due to move in during the evening. So, we enjoyed the Gloria in the magnificent setting of the cathedral, and then we moved outside. The orchestra were OK as regards the rain - they were under a canopy. Judging from all the empty seats, a lot of people decided not to stay, however, we decided we'd paid for the tickets, so we would stick it out! To start with, it was just occasional drizzle, but it gradually became more consistent and steady. Moreover, the projection proved to be rather disappointing. The photographs being used were from local photographers, and I don't know whether the problem lay with the quality of the photographs, the background they were being projected on to, or the company doing the projection. Someone told us it was the same company who does Lumenocity, a light projection event on Music Hall, which I haven't seen in person, but I have seen pictures, and that was amazing. So, all in all a disappointing second half. At least the heaviest rain held off until we were in the car heading home!
