Holiday day 3: Lochboisdale to Lochmaddy

It's been a rather challenging day on two wheels cycling north across the islands of South Uist, Benbecula, and North Uist in the wind and rain.

We stopped twice. First we took an early break for coffee/tea and scones at Kildonan. Here we bemoaned our fate with other soaked cyclists. Around two hours later we hurriedly ate our lunch in a bus shelter as the wind howled and whipped up the rain 'outside'.

The 'best' part of the ride came at the very end when we (finally) had the wind behind us and it had stopped raining. The sun even came out when we checked into our accommodation - hurrah!

We're staying in another fishing hotel tonight. Lochmaddy Hotel has a 'rod and wet room'. This has now been transformed into a 'rod, wet and cycle store' festooned with our soaked cycling gear.

My blip is of another fishing hotel artefact: the rod rack at Lochboisdale. Items such as these bring back childhood memories of family holidays with my fishing-obsessed father. I have added an extra of Mr hazelh, buffeted by the wind on the Benbecula causeway.

Exercise today: 42 miles of (hard) cycling.
