Life in Sunny Dubai

Thursday night street scene

Taken on 2nd December Street, or Al Diyafah Street as it's still called by folk who have been here since the 1990s or Satwa High Street if you've been here before then! We were here to have a long-promised meal at Mini Chinese, an old favourite from when I was growing up. It was the same for Veena's family too.

Veena and Vivek are moving to Singapore soon so we are trying to fit in some quality time. Unfortunately, with a very young child, weekends work best. We got there around 9:30pm and had the place to ourselves. We chatted and chatted and chatted, in fact, we chatted so much, the waiter allowed us to bring Baskin Robbin's ice cream and eat it at our table! (SMART GUY).

We finally left around 12:30 and I didn't get to bed until 2am! Prior to that, we had a very good movie night at Awana watching The Voyage of the Dawntreader. The kids found some parts scary, but generally enjoyed it. We had popcorn too. :)

G finished school and now has all of next week off. The Eid holidays are much longer this year - five days instead of three for the government. I reckon it is to tie in with the wedding of the Crown Prince next Thursday. It is the last weekend of Ramadan, so busier than normal everywhere, and G will be back to normal timings when she returns. That will be hard!
