Guildford

This morning I went to Guildford to meet a friend for coffee at the rather pleasant Coffee Culture (see extra) which is tucked away in a charming lane. We had so much to catch up on it was lovely to chat over coffee.

I thought this image of the High Street would do for the Wide Wednesday theme of history, as it is a very historic old town (not a city despite having a cathedral). Guildford has Saxon roots and by the time of the Domesday Book in 1086 it already had a population of around 900. The High Street is famous for the granite setts, and it also has some beautiful old buildings, including the Guildhall (see extra) which was built in the 14th century, with the facade and clock being added in 1633 - the clock was restored in 1987.

Last night we enjoyed Rocketman, (although not as much as Bohemian Rhapsody). I know that Elton John had much control over the film and the story shown, but my goodness, it is surprising he survived all those drugs he took.

Tonight I have our camera group meeting - this month our theme was 'earth' which I have enjoyed.

No sign of the puppies yet - the breeder stayed up all night but mama dog slept through! She thinks it will be tonight....
