Moon River

Some evenings are simply perfect.

The sky was filled all day with wispy clouds blown every which way.  I was tempted to blip them but held out for a possible sunset. (Try larger  view) Despite the 100°/38° daytime high, there was a cool breeze at dusk as I sat in the shade in my driveway.  The temperature must have dropped to the mid-80's by then.

It was so nice, in fact, that mom came out and sat with me.  We were out until complete darkness fell.  For a while, I had my phone playing her favorite standards.  When we turned off the music, the silence gave us a wonderful sense of peace. More than once, which is always the case, my mother marveled at how the clouds seemed to be hugging the moon...and then commented that it seemed the moon was in a river with orange banks.  The big dipper was directly overhead and as it got darker more stars peeked through the openings in the clouds.  For at least this one night, I gave my mom the moon and the stars.

Some evenings are simply perfect.
