Sunshine on Leith & IKEA rantings!

This morning I went for my walk through Colinton Dell. (We did the 'Colinton Library Medal Route Walk'.) And just look how the sun was shining on the Waters of Leith. It was sooooooo nice to see 'Mr Sunshine'. I still haven't learnt how to swim but I quite often go into the water for a paddle or a drink.  I'm only 7 months old.  Does anyone know how old a puppy is when it learns to swim?  Or maybe I just don't want to go swimming??!!

This afternoon I had to stay 'home alone' while Ann and her friend went to IKEA to buy a chest of drawers for our spare room.

…............And here starts the RANT......................

Ann took her friend with her because it's very difficult shopping at IKEA by oneself as IKEA does not allow one to take the trolleys to one's car. There's barriers around the whole of the exit which make it impossible. So if one is by oneself, one has to leave one's trolley, full of stuff in a 'lock-up' cage while one goes to get one's car. The lock up cages work via putting a £1coin into a slot. In the last 3 years of shopping at Edinburgh IKEA the lock up cages have only ever worked once...................... Take note IKEA – not everyone who shops in your store is a loved up couple??? That's why it's easier to take a friend to help! Unfortunately today, even having a friend to help, did not help. Went to the correct aisle to get the chest of drawers, couldn't find it (because the ref no taken off the display item was wrong?!!), went looking for a member of staff to help. Nobody around in the aisles so grabbed a girl from the nearby 'market place', who located the item and then wandered off. Ann & her friend attempted to lift the said item into the trolley. And failed miserably. It was a flat packed chest of drawers for goodness sake but could they lift it, they could not. Was there anyone around to help them? There was not. So they ended up leaving without buying anything. Ann loves IKEA but today's experience was not very pleasant!!!

PS – Ann and her friend did have a very nice cup of coffee and Daim cake all for £3 and the IKEA breakfasts and meatballs are amazing. But come on IKEA......................... a bit of help re lifting heavy stuff into a trolley would have been amazing.

OK RANT over!!!
