Dexter and the New Summer Mini-Box

Around Thanksgiving back in late November, my husband and I bought a cute little dryer on sale at a deep discount. We received it in very short order; it arrived the following day, during an ice storm.

The dryer purchase also included an awesome extra for the cat: a fabulous big BOX which he adored, and spent all of his free hours both on top of and inside of, for about the past six months.

Then came the spring-into-summer migration of the tabbycat, and Dexter moved to his box overlooking the deck. That's where he goes now when it's time for snoozes: into his secret, private boudoir, behind the curtains.

The big box has been sitting right in the middle of everything, and it has been sort of a pain to have to walk around it. So after we put him into his room for bedtime the other night, we removed the big box and replaced it with a much SMALLER box.

The next morning, Dexter took note of the old box switcheroo, but he didn't seem put out by it at all. In the photo above, you may see dear Dexter lying atop the new box, trying things out.

He is a big boy, and so when he "goes long-paw," as we say, his paw extends off the edge. But I think he actually likes that. He seems contented. And we are happier too. So hooray for the new summer mini-box!

I know I've used this song before but it's so fitting: Simon and Garfunkel, with The Boxer.
