One Of Those Days

Some days are better than others. On the other hand, some are worse. It started out with me thinking my annual ophthalmology appointment was at 9 AM. I overslept and rushed to get there on time only to be told that my appointment was at 10 AM. But wait! It gets better  worse. During the exam my ophthalmologist found something called a horseshoe tear on the retina of my left eye. That’s considered an emergency. Oh, goody. With my eyes dilated from her exam, I had to drive like a maniac to a retina specialist an hour away in Tucson. I won’t go into any more details other than to say I had to undergo laser surgery. Now I am sitting in the parking lot, unable to see out of my left eye (which he claims will clear up within a week with up to two months to recover) and my eyes having been dilated twice today killing me in the sunlight, despite wearing TWO pairs of sunglasses.

Retinal laser surgery is supposed to form a scar around the tear and “spot weld“ the retina to the wall of the eye. There’s an 85% chance it will be successful in preventing a retinal detachment. However, that means there’s a 15% chance...well, you know.

So far, I’ve had a wonderful 2019. *snigger*
My New Year's resolution was to "remain upright" for 365 days.  On that: so far, so good! You've gotta..

Patient: Dr., I think I need glasses.
Teller: You certainly do! This is a bank.
