Sunrise over 'La Manche'

After a protracted drive, which took as through Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Kent, we got to our ferry. Almost having had no sleep, because there were so many road closures (stretches of the A14, M11 and M25) and we were trying to work out which way to go, in the dark, on not very familiar roads! The sunrise was worth it though, and this was just after we boarded our DFDS ferry (we don't do the tunnel - it's more expensive for one thing, but for us, the ferry journey is the start of our holiday)

Jon has been a star. He drove on through France with just a short break. We had to come off the motorway a couple of times, once for a rest, and second to get diesel) so didn't rush. But now we are here, all pitched, and ready for our week. The campsite is away from it all, but a short drive to Bayeux and the d day beaches. The weather is beautiful, I've had a swim in the campsite pool, tested the beer and the ice cream, and cooked a fry up for tea with Henry. Airbeds are fully pumped up, also thanks to Henry, so all I need now is a good night's sleep! Looking forward to our week of proper camping - it's been a while, but so far, so good!
