Clochemerle

We're staying for the weekend in the fictional town of Clochemerle. It was a book published in 1934, written by Gabriel Chevallier and it featured in a movie and in a BBC TV series in 1972.

The real town of Vaux en Beaujolais has taken on the persona of it's fictional counterpart and we're staying in the Auberge du Clochemerle which is in Rue Gabriel Chevallier. My blip is of the pissoire which caused all the fuss between the republicans and the good catholics of the town (although having recently re-read the book, I don't think it's actually in the right place. The correct place I think is where this grape press is in my extra).

We're here for a nephew's wedding and having joined up with much of the family this afternoon we're about to go out for a meal this evening.
