Colourful

Maybe a strange choice of blip, but it's the last day of Hobbs' October Colour Blast. I've been slacking on the blip front (have taken a few photos but deleted them all). Not in other ways though; Spanish class, choir, intercambio, massive session at the vet.

Mystère appears perfectly healthy except that he wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning, throws up, and then goes back to bed. This time we went to the vet at the bottom of our road to minimise stress. Excellent decision; Maria del Mar is lovely and obviously adores cats (I don't have much tolerance for the "Keep Calm and ..." slogans, but "Keep calm and love black cats", on a large wall poster,  is one I can get on board with). After admiring his beauty she did everything she could to reassure him. Since there was nothing obviously wrong, she decided to do a battery of tests. I didn't realise this involved a general anaesthetic -- if I had I would have excused myself and left the room, as it's a bit distressing seeing him lying there unconscious and open-eyed. But while she did blood tests, ultrasound, and an X-ray she explained everything she was doing to us, so we now have the Spanish vocabulary for every internal organ. Once it was all done, her colleague wrote a list of ghastly diseases on a piece of paper and then went down the list crossing them all out because he doesn't have any of them. He might have IBS though, so we left with some stomach-calming gunk and a bag of very expensive cat food. He spent the rest of the day in a stupor but was well enough to eat by the evening. So far so good; the last two nights he hasn't thrown up.

It was such a gorgeous day that after Spanish class we went down to the beach in Salobreña for lunch at La Bahia (see extra) -- another fantastic Spanish salad of mango, avocado, tomatoes, mozzarella, and pesto, and a shared pizza. And this evening we finally managed to make a date with guiri and F for tapas and chat. It was good to catch up properly.
