Limited festive spirit

This blip journal has been notable in its failure to recognise the impending arrival of Christmas. Today I make a small exception, with some Christmas lights in Madrid.

We flew here this afternoon, after L left on an early flight to London. A very smooth journey, and then we treated ourselves to a taxi as there are few obvious metro connections to where we are staying near Atocha station. The hotel is comfortable and, I suspect, not very busy. After an evening wander to see where we need to go on Thursday, we had dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. We ended up eating more than we expected, but the food was superb. This is a bunch of young people who've set up a restaurant having finished their degrees in Madrid. They deserve to succeed, but I suspect that the competition is stiff. This is their first Christmas and unfortunately they had very few diners.

Anyway, we've got as far into the Christmas 'spirit' as I suspect we're going to get. Chilling is the name of the game.
