Life in Sunny Dubai

By GadgetKid

Silly Saturday

G has a friend coming to visit her tomorrow, so she was busy all morning tidying up her room and making space. I took the opportunity of sorting through a few drawers of my own - something I hate doing. There's always something more worthwhile to spend time on!

We stopped for lunch and then went out to deliver a present. Patrick and his wife Alex were in the Costa we usually meet in for our work meetings. We haven't seen them in a while. As it was bright and cool, we headed to the beach and had a little walk along the fishing village. G had the idea to take a picture of the four of us!

We dropped them back to Costa so they could carry on with their work, and headed back home, except we got distracted by a giant Christmas tree outside the Habtoor Palace Hotel. They have a mini Christmas market which we decided to check out.

Well, we got in on the last day! There wasn't much going on (it was 6pm), so we decided to walk along the Canal. It's something we've been wanting to do for ages, and winter is the only time it can be done. The weather was perfect, and it was good to explore the development on foot. I wish I had my DSLR to get some decent pictures. We have had a run of beautiful, clear nights showing the city off at its best.

Home to finish the preparation for tomorrow. This involved clearing the ironing which went on till midnight. I've got a bit more to do tomorrow. We finally took a bite of the Christmas Cake that SweetArt made for us. G iced it a couple of days ago. It was deelicious!

Oh, I must record this... following our recent attempt to drive through all seven Emirates in one day, friends of our decided to do the same thing today and asked me for route points. SO pleased that they actually managed it (we failed). We even got pictures of their progress. An hour well spent yesterday afternoon. :)
