IT'S BEHIND YOU.....

….. oh no it’s not, it’s in front of you!  

After a great service at Church, Mr. HCB suggested we went out through Royal Wootton Bassett to see if we could find some dereliction, so off we went.  It was hammering down with rain, but Mr. HCB was still happy to take me out - what a trouper he is!  However, when we got to the M4 interchange, it was obvious that the route he planned to take was not going to be possible, as traffic stretched from a very long way in front, right back to the interchange, which we discovered later was due to road works - so that’s a road to avoid for a while.

Rather than sit in queuing traffic for a very long time, we decided to abandon our plans to look for dereliction, then Mr. HCB decided to reverse, which he probably shouldn’t have done, go over the motorway and asked if I would like to go into a nearby Costa for a coffee.  Of course, I couldn’t refuse - but then I ended up paying - not quite sure how that works, but he was good enough to drive through the pouring rain, so I can’t complain.

Having had our coffee, we dashed out to the car, got soaked again - and decided that this was definitely not a day to be out!  I spotted the beautiful colours of an oil spillage in the parking bay next to us, so fiddled around taking photographs of that through the rain on the car window - see my extra.  Mr. HCB thought it would be best to come back home via the motorway, although by this time the spray from the torrential rain was very bad.  

We ambled along, at a steady 60 mph but of course, there were idiots charging along in the outside lane, as usual.  We were glad that we were only on the motorway for about five miles and as we came off, we spotted a Police Range Rover waiting to come along the dual carriageway.  I would have let him out, because I would rather have a "jam sandwich" in front of me rather than behind, but Mr. HCB decided not to - however, it didn’t take long before it overtook us - which gave me an idea for my Blip.  

We’re glad to be home and it’s still grey, pouring with rain, dreary and cold, but Mr. HCB is now watching some cricket on television so he’s happy.  Not quite the afternoon we had hoped for, but things don’t always work out as we plan, so we just have to make the best of it. We just hope that this rain soon stops - everything is so soggy already and it’s not helping the few plants that are flowering at the moment.

Hope everyone has a good week and if you live in Royal Wootton Bassett and need to come into Swindon to work, I don’t envy you your journey tomorrow and during the coming week.
