Thorny

A cold grey miserable day, a contrast to the sun yesterday morning. Out with the dogs mid morning and I stopped to photograph the enormous thorns on an old bramble shoot. Lots of textures - and some new leaves emerging.

Also found some Common Hogweed already well established - see extra. Seems early for these plants as they are normally associated with verges and lanes in summer. The large pale stalk in the shot is the remains of one of last year’s stems.

The guest dogs and guinea pigs have been returned home - the guinea pigs seemed especially pleased, running around their cage and squeaking. It is a big two tiered cage and I only took the top tier with me for the weekend...seems they missed the ground floor!

Collected daughter and family from Doncaster station and stayed a while afterwards to hear about their wonderful Disney break from eldest granddaughter! Baby Emily seems to have enjoyed it too - she was buzzing! I suspect that they may not sleep tonight as they have been sitting on trains all day!
