Happy Leap Day!

A day out from Christchurch, to Akaroa, on the Banks peninsula. Founded by the French in the 1840's it is situated on a natural harbour which is the remnants of a volcano.

It took a couple of hours to get there. It was wet and windy leaving Christchurch (and I'd opted to leave the raincoat in the hotel) but it got better and better in Akaroa and ended up a really nice day.

There were two cruise ships in so the place was busy. Walked, visited, ate and drank for 5 hours then back to a cool Christchurch.

The glue bought in the craft shop in Akaroa means I could do running repairs on the sandals.

Went out on search of pizza tonight but pizza restaurants seen to have passed Christchurch by and there Riverside restaurants were too busy and noisy so back to Breakfree. Now trying to decide if another glass of Merlot is justified before bed.

Saigon has mopeds, Phnom Penh tuk tuls, KL 4 x 4s. Christchurch has electric PAYG scooters. Either coming at you from all angles or left 'parked' on the pavement.
