Ma and babes

I didn't really sleep well and was awake for a couple hours in the middle of the night enjoying my mother's 5 minutes of fame on the BBC news app (call for WW2 vets to participate in the VE Day 75 commemorations in Edinburgh, #3 son is organising it) and communicating with folk still in Sunday.

Once I did wake up at the right time C & I headed to Onehunga for some shopping and then back for some Landels genealogy.

That was followed by a walk round the lake at Western Springs which used to supply Auckland's water. Now it is just a park and wetlands. However the fact that Auckland has had no significant rain for months means the creeks are nearly dry, the grass is brown and a number of trees are stressed and dying.

A quiet evening - dinner, sewing, TV. Not a lot happening in suburban Auckland, other than Kiwis are being urged to stop panic buying and stockpiling stuff such as toilet paper in case they have to self isolate. Words fail me.
