Yellowhammer (Emberiza citrinella)
Not a terribly good shot I know, however this is only the second time I have seen a Yellowhammer in the garden. The first was a number of years ago in heavy snow conditions. Sadly they are of red conservation concern, this is because they are in decline on all indicators: Breeding population decline, winter population decline, breeding range decline and wintering range decline.
FOr anybody thinking I thought they had yellow heads and were generally more yellow, this is a probable male in winter plumage. Strangely they are of no conservation concern on the continent or globally. We here in the UK must be doing something wrong.
