Marjorie's ramblings

Mothering Sunday

We are amongst the fortunate ones who were able to spend the day together. We did that quietly at home. Mum watched the service from Canterbury with Justin Welby and, later, Songs of Praise, which included Mothers' Union members amongst other people.

We knew that flowers would arrive from the local Anglican church and I have blipped them. Margret brought them and left them on the path outside our front door. What a lovely idea.

Tonight we lit candles in our windows at 7pm to mark solidarity with Christians across the UK and as a sign of hope in these troubled times. We could see the candle light from the two houses opposite. Margret's house is shielded from the road by a wall, so she put a candle outside her gate.

Perhaps we can have another time in the future when all religions and none can join together in a similar way.

Margaret and Brian are going to do some shopping for me tomorrow. If they can spot a loo roll, I will be grateful, although we are not desperate yet!!

Happy Mothering Sunday to all who had to be apart or who are remembering those they have lost.

There are those who find this day difficult for many reasons and I think of them too.
